BURMA (MYANMAR)
If you have seen the plains of Pagan at sunrise with its thousands of shimmering pagodas and temples spread over a few kilometers, you get a feeling for the omnipresence of the Buddhist philosophy which allows the native people to deal with one another in a friendly and peaceful way (as long as they don't belong to the military Junta!). If you have only been given a visa for a week you must make the difficult decision of what to do in this short time: | Rangoon with its world famous Shwe Dagon Pagoda where you could spend days, the man high rocks in the south, Pagan or the fishermen using their feet as paddles on the Inley lake at Mandalay - you could spend a long, long time in this country! |
