FALKLANDS - STANLEY
Stanley is the capital of the Falkland Islands and counts about 2.000 inhabitants. From Stanley it takes a couple of hours (most of the time off-road) to reach the Volunteerpoint, where a larger king penguin colony can be visited.
| Sitting close to the animals you have to wait only a bit until the curious "youngsters" will get near to examine you accurately, picking even at the soles of your shoes. Sometimes they will practice the typical king penguin's greeting by throwing their heads in the neck and sounding like a trumpet. |
