Man's true house is not the house, but the way,
And life itself is a journey which must be undertaken on foot.
Bruce Chatwin (author and photographer, born 1940 in Sheffield, died 1989 in Nice)

Since the early eighties my wife and I have traveled to many countries in the world, normally equipped just with rucksacks and return air tickets. Far from the normal tourist trail and season there were opportunities to organize or modify our tours locally taking local advice into consideration.
Whether buying tickets at Xian train station or illegal entry into Tibet, this sort of adventure and much more besides was the reward for doing without the comfort and safety of professional operators' organized group tours. All our journeys have been documented in almost 80,000 photos and those that were not taken with a digital camera are gradually being digitalized for our personal archive.

With this website I would like to let you take part in my personal photo archive. If you would like to have a quick look at Machu Pichu before the Peruvian government realizes its plans for a cable car and escalators, or you would like to see the Potalla in Lhasa before the Chinese government extinguishes the last spark of Tibetan spirituality on the 'Top of the World', then I invite you to browse through these pages.

Have fun on the short tour round my 'house'!
