USA - LOS ANGELES
Los Angeles is huge and this doesn't only belong to Hollywood. LA was founded in 1781 in the Spanish / Mexican area named "El Pueblo de Nuestra Senora la Reina de Los Angeles de Poricuncula". During the Mexican War 1846 - 1848, in conjunction with the annexation of California, also Los Angeles became American. Racial disturbances and natural disasters shattered the city especially between the 60ties and 80ties. In 1992 the racial conflicts grow up again and after the torturer of the colored Rodney King got free, heavy riots took place. | In 1994 a heavy earthquake (6,6 on Richter scale) shattered the town. For the last years the town was also harmed by heavy forest fires. Los Angeles suffers by traffic chaos and the limited drinking water availability raises more and more to a serious problem! |
